The construction of a new building for Quincy High School was the City of Quincy’s largest municipal project. The 330,000 square foot project included the construction of a science and technology wing, gymnasium, auditorium and administrative wing, as well as the demolition of the existing school structure. State-of-the-art education technologies were incorporated throughout the new school, and the project’s design and approach met Mass Collaborative for High Performance Schools (MA-CHPS) criteria. Providence-based Gilbane Building Company managed the project as general contractor. With more than 2,800 Gilbane employees serving projects throughout the world, the firm is one of the largest family-owned companies in the industry.
