BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING SERVICES

Building owners, designers and contractors today are increasingly using building information modeling (BIM) as part of the mechanical design and construction delivery system. P.J. Kennedy & Sons performs Building Information Modeling utilizing AutoCAD® and Revit® modeling software in conjunction with NAVISWORKS® to ensure that project design and timing is coordinated between the various trade groups. Once completed, project teams utilize the model to extract installation shop drawings and fabrication drawings for multiple field applications. This prefabrication aids in moving labor to off-site fabrication facilities, further reducing field installation time and improving the overall project schedule.

"Our most recent project, the UMass - U. Hall, was by far our most difficult, the most involved and the most interesting project that we have done together to date. P.J. Kennedy & Sons performed both the HVAC and Plumbing on the project. The building contains places of assembly such as a 500-person auditorium, a recital hall, a black box theater and a full height atrium. It also has a full floor of science rooms with 100 fume-hoods, the upper floor contains a dance studio, acting studio and various art rooms. Topping it off is a full floor mechanical room that houses the multitude of mechanical systems to service all of the different requirements of the spaces below. P.J. Kennedy & Sons orchestrated a very impressive fit-out of that room through one glory hole in the side of the building. The coordination, installation, start-up and commissioning was completed without a hitch."
